Review: The Night Hotel New York

I know that when visiting New York,  the last thing you want to do is spend lots of time in your hotel room, however you’ll want to stay somewhere with good service,  a comfortable bed and with a bit of personality (and not pay over the odds for it).

I did my research on the best hotels in New York (perhaps a little too thoroughly) and settled on a 4* hotel just a couple of minutes’ walk from Times Square. Enter: The Night Hotel New York.

The Night Hotel New York, lobby

The Night Hotel was voted ‘sexiest hotel in America’ by TripAdvisor and I can see why. The whole hotel is lit really softly so it feels like it’s always night time, and rooms are decorated in tasteful black and white, with cushioned black head boards (say no more…)

Everything in this hotel screams sexy. Under-bed lighting, double showers, a ‘do not disturb’ light which you flick from green to red when you want some private time, chocolates on the bed and even a copy of the Kama Sutra in your drawer. Makes a nice change from the bible, anyway!

Some nice bedtime reading

Little touches like the weather report delivered daily to your room and wake up calls followed by a reminder call to make sure you’re really awake make this hotel functional as well as a great experience.

The staff were really friendly, from the housekeeping guys to the bar staff to the front desk. Patrick, on reception gave us maps and a couple of local recommendations for food. Top marks.

A 2 night stay here in a Queen room (no breakfast) cost £280 for 2 of us, booking through I joined their mailing list a few months before booking and kept an eye on their specials. These guys constantly run 10% or 15% deals so keep your eyes peeled.

So if you’re after a romantic hotel with a great location and a good price, allow me to steer you in the direction of The Night Hotel. You can thank me later…
