Selfie: Noun. A photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website.
Now that ‘selfie’ has officially made it into the Oxford dictionary (and more recently, been OK’d for Scrabble – yey!), like it or not it’s engrained in daily life. You can’t walk 5 minutes through central London without seeing a tourist with their smartphone trained on themselves, nor go a day without reading about some unfortunate mishap stemming from a narcissistic need to document every waking moment.
It’s no secret that I love a good old selfie – it’s the perfect treat for the solo traveller in my opinion. You might remember a video I made about a fellow travel blogger who is obsessed with them too.
Take a Selfie, Win a Holiday!

This got me thinking. If I were to win, I would totally love to visit Cuba for my #selfiestories trip. What better background than Old Havana for a few selfies with giant cigars and street musicians, as well as the incredible white sand beaches of Varadero. Plus I’ve just been to my 49th country, so visiting such an awesome country for my 50th would be a dream come true!
Here’s my entry for the competition. I love this selfie as it really captures the moment my travelling buddies and I conquered a glacier in Canada – and you can see our guide popping up in the background too!
