Top 3 Destinations For a UK Hen Do

I’ve spent a good chunk of time recently looking forward to next May when I finally become an honest woman(!!).

Although I’m getting married in Portugal (check out the venue!) and having my hen party in Lisbon, there are a few people who can’t make the trip so I’ve been considering a ‘top up hen do’ here in the UK.

A hen do is one of the biggest nights for the bride and the most important responsibility of the maid of honour and bridesmaids (no pressure, ladies!). The last night of being an unmarried, ‘single’ woman. I’m leaving my friends to it for the Portuguese hen do, but can’t keep my mind from wandering about the UK do.

There are plenty of hen do ideas out there and the decision to choose the best out of all hen party ideas is definitely a tough one. Travelling with your girls is a great idea for a hen party, and the charm, grace and fun of the United Kingdom, makes it a popular choice for a hen do. Check out the top three UK destinations for a hen do:

This ‘Robin Hood’ legend city in central England is perfect for brides who have friends all over the country, as it’s a fairly central meeting point. Make a beeline for ‘It’s a Knockout’ for the silly thrills of wearing costumes, jumping on bouncy castles and competing with challenges made of foam. Be sure to book well in advance if you’ve got a big group.

There are plenty of tourist places for you to see in Nottingham too. You can spend a day checking out all tourist places like the amazing Nottingham castle which has been standing since 1067 and gives a beautiful view of the city. The Nottingham Cathedral is another remarkable structure for you to tick off your Nottingham hen do list.

Finally you should definitely check out the Lace Market, then head to one of the top bars and pubs for a night out. Nottingham is also a big university city so there are plenty to choose from!

Hen parties in Nottingham have everything that you could ask for, from a classy nightlife to Burlesque, Bollywood dance lessons to fine dining experiences. You can go for a classy evening of wine and fine dining with your hen gang to some really good riverside bars in West Bridgford.

The capital of UK, (and my hometown,) London is a city bursting with great nightlife to enjoy, lots of historical places to see and great designer shopping stores to empty your wallets at. For the fashionistas, this fashion capital is the perfect hen do destination – Take a walk up Kings Road in Chelsea, or if you want a shopping binge, one of the Westfield shopping centres (currently in Stratford and Shepherd’s Bush, but soon making an appearance in Croydon) should do the trick.

One things for sure. A hen party in London will be nothing short of spectacular. Famous for its gin, a gin tasting session definitely needs to be included in your hen do in London (so I’m told, I’m not a fan but my friends LOVE it). Gin Journey is a great way to see a few different distilleries and have fund along the way.

You can opt for dance lessons, cocktail making lessons, cupcake lessons or just party with your gals at the top notch clubs and pubs in London. Experience tea the British way with a high tea experience at top cafes in London. A visit to the Buckingham Palace and witnessing the changing of the guard ceremony is going to complete your hen weekend in London.

I know what you’re thinking. Really – Birmingham? Yeah! The city has undergone an amazing transformation in the last few years and is now up there with one of the most rocking cities in England (sorry, Liverpool, I still love you). In this city of remarkable architecture and beauty, I know you will have an awesome time.

The shopping spree that awaits you and your gal pals at the Bullring is an invite in itself to celebrate your hen do in Birmingham. The nightlife of Birmingham stays alive way past closing time, so you can expect some great bars and pubs at Broad Street to still be ready to invite you in, when a lot of the other places have closed for the night.

Digbeth is another area which has some fantastic clubs for your hen gang to dance away the night at. Admire the famous Town Hall, Council Hall in Victoria Square in the day and spend the night learning Burlesque or go for an ABBA dance class. For a party filled hen do, Birmingham is perfect. You can also choose to indulge in some sport activities like archery, bubble football or test your luck in a casino. Whatever you want to do, Birmingham has all its doors open for your hen gang.

The shopping, lights, nightlife, history and culture of these UK destinations will give you a perfect British hen do. It will be a well rounded hen do of admiring British marvels, partying Brit style till late in the night and indulging in some fun activities that will give you and your hen girls, something to laugh about once your ‘Miss’ friend becomes a ‘Mrs’. So pack your bags and get ready to sip on tea and prosecco, then carry on the night in style.
